Joining and leaving live sessions

You can find and join live sessions in several places. Examples are the schedule page, anywhere around the site that may feature rotators of the highlighted sessions and pages that feature sessions. Select a session when it is Live to join it.

The session preview page

If you don't see the session Preview page when you enter a session, it means the session is either Upcoming or Past. Once the session goes live, you will be automatically routed to the session Preview page, where you can configure your camera, microphone settings, and visual effects or return to the splash page.

1. Microphone, camera, and visual effects

Microphone: Toggle on or off.
Camera: Toggle on or off.
Visual Effects: Opens a window with options to blur, unblur, or choose a personal background image.

Depending on how your site admin has set up the Visual Effects options, you may or may not have access to upload your own personal background images.

If your site admin has provided site-wide background images. They will be located here to choose from as well.

Choosing a Personal Background

Upload images to use as your background.
Select the image plus icon and choose a valid file type from your computer.

Only .jpg file types are allowed for personal background images.

2. Configuring your device settings

Microphone: Choose your preferred microphone.

Camera: Choose your preferred camera.

Speakers: Choose your preferred speakers.

3. Session details

Session Name: View the name of the session.
Description Preview: See a snippet of the session description.

Display Name: Depending on how your site admin sets up the session options, you may or may not be able to change your display name.

Navigation:
- Go Back: Return to the splash page.
- Enter Session: Join the session.

Session features and controls

Inside a session, you can watch and listen to presentations. Depending on your permissions, you may have access to additional controls:

1. Session Recording Indicator and Time Remaining

Recording Indicator: A red dot in the top left corner shows the session is being recorded.
Time Remaining: The session's remaining time is displayed in the top left corner.

2. Exiting the Session or Breakout

Main Session: The exit icon in the bottom left corner returns you to the session splash page.
Sub Breakout: The exit icon returns you to the main session.

3. Controls

Microphone: Toggle on or off.
Camera: Toggle on or off.
Share Screen: Start or stop screen sharing and choose options.
Raise Hand: Indicate you want to speak.
Emoji: Share different emojis on screen.
Chat: Open the chat panel to communicate with others.
More Menu: Access device settings and visual effects options.

4. Additional Session Options

View Attendees: Select the Attendees button on the right-hand side to see who is in the session.
Activities: Depending on the session setup, you can select the Activities button on the right-hand side to participate in polls or ask questions during the session.
